Women leaders have everything it takes to end poverty - with you

Rosanny, Danny and Elsa are proof that investing in women leaders changes entire communities.

As International Women's Day approaches, I think of women who refuse to follow the path poverty set for them.

Rosanny, Danny and Elsa led their families out of poverty. Now, along with other leaders, they want to do the same for their neighbours and communities so 750 people can step into a life shaped by vision and capacity, not poverty.

There are 70 change makers in the Dominican Republic - leaders like Rosanny, Danny and Elsa – who need training to strengthen their skills and seed money for projects that will cultivate opportunities.

$100 will train one aspiring leader in:

  • Business and financial literacy

  • Community mobilization

  • Project management and entrepreneurship

These female change makers will enable community-driven projects that reduce the impact of climate change on crop yields; improve safety and productivity by installing electricity and lights; and establish community-owned banks for marginalized people to access credit. These are just a few of the many ways women want lead their communities out of poverty.
