Saving lives in Sudan by providing medicines and care
Medicines and medical care are in short supply in rural Sudan and as a result, children are suffering and dying.
The Situation:Even the most basic medical supplies and equipment are not available in small communities in the rural areas of Yambio, Rumbek, and Juba, southern Sudan.
People, especially the children and elderly, suffer and die because they do not have access to even the most basic medical supplies and equipment.
Simply injuries can be deadly if left untreated.
When it comes to childbirth, the situation is even more acute. There is little help available if something goes wrong during pregnancy or childbirth. In southern Sudan, one in every seven women dies as a result of causes related to childbirth, and nearly 14 percent of children die before the age of five.
What HOPE International Development Agency donors are supporting:
Live-saving medicine and medical supplies are being provided to Yambio, Rumbek, and Juba, preventing and treating disease.
The Result:More than 20,000 people in Yambio, Rumbek, and Juba now have access to medicines and medical care.
