Samantha Hulme has been connected to HOPE International Development Agency since she was a child. Her mother Maria is one of the founding members of the organization and remains a pivotal member of the HOPE family. When Samantha was just a child, her mother dedicated herself to the newly formed HOPE International Development Agency and to making a difference in the lives of people a world away.

Now, some 30 years later, Samantha travels to the Philippines to explore her mother's legacy with one of HOPE International Development Agency's oldest partners - the Assisi Development Foundation.
HOPE International Development Agency's long-term commitment to the Philippines has resulted in incredible change and transformation for the Indigenous Peoples on the southern island of Mindanao. At the centre of the work is clean water, which is the beginning of real change and real development. But additionally, through investment in elementary and college education, training in health care, sustainable agriculture and food security, communities are taking control of their own futures and becoming self sufficient.
As a college student, Samantha considered following her mother's career path of international development, but instead chose law. Now as a crown prosecutor within the legal justice system, Samantha's trip of a lifetime to the Philippines brings her to a deeper understanding of social justice and how a long-term commitment to providing basic human rights can serve to create strong and thriving communities.
A gift of $700 provides clean water for 1 family. A gift of $2,000 provides 2 university students with tuition and expenses for 1 year. A gift of $9,000 provides 20 families with tools and training for sustainable agriculture. A gift of $30,000 provides 2 communities with a clean, accessible water system.
