Education in the Philippines

Saving indigenous children through education

Children at school.

Discrimination and poverty are robbing indigenous Filipino children of their future. Despite their best efforts, parents are unable to send their children to school.

Providing for their basic needs is difficult and there is simply not enough money to pay for school - most families live below the poverty line, despite earning daily wages for their labour.

Your support gives indigenous children the opportunity of a lifetime— an education.

Learning frees children from a future of servitude and poverty

For $10 CAD per month you could support an indigenous Philippines child through elementary education. Children that have the advantage of education are likely to gain better employment leading to an improved standard of living for their families.

Your giving provides:

  • Tuition fees, school books and supplies needed to ensure that your child receives a quality elementary school education
  • A safe environment in which to learn, including personal hygiene skills and HIV/AIDS prevention
  • The opportunity to enter secondary school
  • Assistance and additional skills training for rural teachers instructing the children, with a focus on relevant education for indigenous children
  • Nutrition training and, where needed, nutritional supplements
  • The opportunity, through formal education, to eventually choose an occupation that provides self-reliance and freedom from extreme poverty
  • Resource materials for use by school children and the entire community
