Breaking the cycle of poverty for indigenous people through education
Leila, a young mother in the Philippines, believes the poverty she endures today is a direct result of being denied an education when she was a child.
As a member of a group of indigenous people that are neglected and incredibly poor, Leila worries about her children’s future… and for good reason!
About 75 percent of children not in school right now have mothers who did not have the opportunity to attend school.
Knowing this, you can see why we too are worried that an entire generation of indigenous children will be condemned to a life of suffering, just like Leila’s.
A $120 scholarship will give a child in need an education and a brighter future!
The scholarship will send one child to school for an entire year and it includes everything they will need.
To put this in perspective… a one-year scholarship costs far less than even the average back-to-school wardrobe here at home.
Imagine the laughter and huge smile your gift will bring when a child finds out they are going to school this year! Imagine the happiness parents will feel knowing that their child has received the life-changing gift of an education.
It costs just $120 to fund a scholarship for one child for one year. But if you are not able to give the entire $120 at this time, a gift of $60 or whatever you can give toward this life-transforming endeavor will be gratefully received.
Your giving will provide:
- Tuition fees, schoolbooks, clothing, and school supplies
- A safe environment in which to learn a wide range of topics
- Personal hygiene training and, for the older children, HIV/AIDS prevention
- Nutrition education, health education, and nutritional supplements
- Assistance and additional skills training for rural teachers
- Additional resource materials for use by schoolchildren and their community
Give a one-year scholarship to a needy child today. Give to support a one-year scholarship today.
