In rural DR Congo, children are arriving dangerously malnourished every single day.

Your gift of $42 can provide three weeks of food and medical care for one child — enough to help them recover and return home.

Every day, families come from surrounding villages, some carrying malnourished and sick children in their arms, others on their back, to the clinic in Tshimbundu — each determined to give them another chance.

Dozens of children will arrive today, very sick and in need of urgent care.

Dr. Jean, the clinic’s head doctor, tells us the demand for care has never been higher and continues to grow.

With quick action, proper nutrition, targeted medical care, and three weeks of steady support, nine out of ten children who come to the clinic recover.

“In just a few weeks, children begin to eat again, gain weight, and regain strength. Parents who arrive in despair often leave with relief and hope — and their children with a chance to grow and build a future.”

Your gift changes what happens to a child today and tomorrow.

The quick treatment your gift provides will ensure illness and malnutrition in early childhood doesn’t cause lasting harm like weakened immune systems, stunted growth, developmental delays, and greater vulnerability to illness.

What your gift provides

When a child arrives at the clinic, Dr. Jean and the team move fast. They assess the child, treat any illness, and begin care. If malnutrition has left them vulnerable to cold, they’re wrapped in blankets for warmth. Then the feeding begins — warm soya porridge in the morning, rice and beans at midday, and foufou with vegetables or fish in the evening.

The challenge Dr. Jean and the team are facing every day

98 of every 1,000 children will see their fifth birthday

31 of every 1,000 children die in the first month of their life

Only 6% of newborns receive postnatal care within 2-days
