“If my health is good, life for me and my family is good!”

Without good health, the journey out of poverty is much hard and much longer. This is especially true for mothers - the foundation of every family. Extreme poverty creates impossible situations for mothers to care for their families as their own health is under constant threat from illness and disease.

In one country where HOPE works, a recent women’s health survey found that 92% of the more than 1,000 women examined had severe and acute infections, many of which will become life-threatening if left untreated.

Health initiatives, supported by the supply of medicine and medical equipment to community-based health clinics are giving mothers and their children access to timely health care within reach of where they live. These initiatives include hygiene training, health education and support, as well as the timely diagnosis and treatment of infections and illnesses before they become disabling or life-threatening.
